Pasteuria cells are approximately 1-5x3-6 microns, nearly spherical to pear-shaped in shape, broad and rounded at one end and tapered and attached at the other. Older cells are brighter near the rounded end. Colonies of Pasteuria are solitary or aggregated and are grape-shaped. Propagated by budding from the top or side of the free rounded end. The buds are initially almost spherical. Pasteuria's cells are non-motile and non-pigmented.
Pasteuria is aerobic bacteria. Originally isolated from and possibly pathogenic to Daphnia pulex and Daphnia magna. Recently seen in the body cavity and antennae of some species of Daphnia (Daphnia spp.) in North America and England. Similar bacteria were found to adhere to surfaces submerged in lake water.
Creative Biogene offers customizable Pasteuria strain culture services. This service can help you obtain Pasteuria cultures for subsequent scientific research. This service allows you to skip the complicated and tedious groping of culture conditions, which helps to speed up research on this strain.
