Description

Akt plays a key role in the control of survival and apoptosis. This protein kinase is activated by insulin and various growth and survival factors and functions in a watermanin-sensitive pathway involving PI3 kinase. The once functionally elusive PDK2 phosphorylates Akt at Ser473, identified as the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) in a non-sensitive complex containing Rictor and Sin1.target of rapamycin (mTOR)).
